This is one of the largest fortifications in Europe. Its towers reach high above the city as it’s located on the Festungsberg. Besides the interesting insights into the history of this medieval castle, it also offers an amazing 360 degrees panorama view of the city and the surrounding mountains.

Museums and galleries

With over 50 galleries and 20 museums spread throughout the city you’ll find something that matches your interest. The museum of modern art is one to mention in particular as its beautifully located on the Monchsberg and the architecture is attractively in contrast with the historic center.
