9X BEST BEACHES IN AND AROUND JÁVEA, SPAIN

Jávea boasts some of the most incredible beaches and bays on the Costa Blanca. Beachlover that we are, we did a little research and visited some of the best beaches in the region. From sandy, to white pebble stone beaches and majestic coves.

Best Beaches Jávea

While Jávea itself has plenty of stunning beaches, we certainly didn’t want to limit ourselves – after all, there are just as many incredible spots to discover in the surrounding area. If you come during the high-season, there is one rule; come early, very early. It get’s very busy during summer, and not all beaches are large and parking spots are limited. In total we explored 9 different beaches around Jávea, and these have made it to the list!

To all beaches these rules apply:
  • Bring sunscreen, Spain get hot.
  • Come early for decent parking spots (around 10 am, or after 4 pm).
  • Take your snorkeling gear along.
  • Rent a car, because you can only commute like this on the island or by taxi.

Granadella - Jávea

Cala del Moraig

Honestly, this beach really impressed us to say the least. This very dramatic, rocky beach, is situated between Jávea and Moraira. Do bring a parasol as there isn’t much shade! Oh, and don’t miss the sea cave on your right, Cova dels Arcs.

Cala del Moraig

Cala Granadella

Frequently named one of Spain’s most beautiful beaches. Not big, so come early to secure a parking spot. Grab a bite at La Bandideta for pizza and sea views. If you book a kayak tour, you are most likely to make this your starting point. You can look for several kayak trips here, but we booked ours at Siesta Advisor which was a wonderful experience.

Playa en Calo Javea

Best described as a true hidden gem, as these small stone beaches are only accessible by boat or kayak. The best way to visit them is to book a kayak tour from Cala Granadella. Next to this beach is a cave which you can enter. You may need to take a little dip to get in, but only for 1 second. You’ll find yourself inside a water cave with an opening which you can safely explore and swim out of. Super cool!

Playa del Arenal

Jávea’s main sandy beach and a family favorite. Shallow waters, vibrant boulevard, and endless fun. Along the beach you can find plenty of restaurants, cafés and shops. You can easily spend the whole day here. For all the best restaurants and more tips, check our Jávea Travel Guide.

Cala de Portitxol

Stone beach with iconic white-and-blue fishermen’s houses. Also known as Cala Barraca — Insta-famous and stunning for sure. You can get there by car or per boat. Parking spaces are limited so come early, especially if you want to enjoy the afternoon party at Cala Clemence.

Playa de Ambolo

Not far from Cala en Calo, you’ll find this secluded beach. Come sunbathing in your birthday suit, but be aware that some kayak groups may enter the beach from time to time. This beach, which is a mix between rocks and sand, is also perfect for cliff jumping!

Playa de la Grava

A pebble beach loved especially by locals. Stroll the promenade and stop for tapas at Cala Bandida, A La Mar, or Rooftop Terrace.

Primer Muntanyar / Benissero

No sand, but small stones and a few nice restaurants like La Siesta. Come here for breakfast or lunch or watch the sky turn red when the sun sets.

Bonus: LULU Beachclub

Honestly, this isn’t a natural beach, but this newly opened beach club has a small beach, hence the name. Complete with lounge chairs, rumour has it, that they flew over sand from the Maldives! Whether that’s true or not, we love this place for food and cocktails while our toes touch the sand. lulubeachclub.com
