16X AMAZING PASTRY SHOPS IN AMSTERDAM

Where to find the best pastries in Amsterdam? Pastry became part of everyday life in Amsterdam. Every time we see an Instagram Reel about fluffy or crunchy pastries, we want to go and get one immediately. Now, we don’t live in Paris, but we have Amsterdam! And thankfully the Dutch capital gives us some finger-licking pastry shops you want to go and check out.

Pantonia – (kerkstraat 163)

This fairly new bakery in Amsterdam (2024), sell the most amazing pastries. They describe themselves as a gallery-atelier for pastry, something unique. Nice to know; they serve sandwich croissants! We’re curious to try them all soon!

Craft Coffee & Pastry, Gerard Doustraat 103

This 100 percent gluten-free pastry shop in Amsterdam de Pijp, has totally blown us away. With a sister that has an allergy to gluten, I initially came here for her. But I think I ate the crunchiest croissant, ever! Best of all, they were still warm. If you don’t want to miss out on the best pastries and bread rolls, come early to avoid a line. You can also order online, but they will be delivered frozen, so you can warm them at home.

Bakkerij Wolf, Wolvenstraat 22

Our favourite bakery in the city centre of Amsterdam. They have a small corner where you can get your daily fresh bread (their sourdough is yummy) and take your lunch out. Try out the flakey, crunchy and buttery croissants stuffed with almond frangipane and shaved almonds on top! Next door is their restaurant where you can order some amazing pastries from the bakery, sandwiches and coffee. A good way to start your day is to stop by and have our Pulled Chicken Sandwich with chipotle and pickled pointed cabbage. Bakkerij Wolf open their doors on Rozengracht soon!

Rise Bakery, Albert Cuypstraat 208

When you walk in this bakery, it’s a bit steamy and hot because you are literally walking into the bakery itself. A counter with beautiful freshly baked pastries on display will greet you. Go for the round wheel croissants, especially when it has the mango passionfruit filling! Crab a coffee to go while you’re here. Located on the famous Albert Cuyp.

Saint Jean, Lindengracht 158

This French style pastry shop in Amsterdam is so so good. Especially the Pistachio cruffins (Muffin-Rolled vegan croissant dough). Good to now; this bakery is plant-based and also creates birthday cakes, and if you can’t make it to their location at Lindengracht, you can also order online.

Have a Roll, van Woustraat 42

Owner Dennis van Peel started baking during lockdown at home for him and his friends. Their friends convinced them to open a shop, and so the first Have a Roll shop was born in Antwerp. Now it’s here in Amsterdam, where you can finally try out their famous and tasty vegan rolls! The smell of freshly baked rolls that just came right out of the oven is what you smell when the enter the shop. MMmmmmm.

Fort Negen, Jan Evertsenstraat 31

Search for a list about bread and pastries, and Fort Negen will be on it. They are massively hyped, which results in long lines in front of their location at the Jan Evertsenstraat in Amsterdam West. But we have to admit, they are pretty damn good with dough and cruffins.  Every Monday the team of Fort Negen puts their heads together to come up with one savoury and two sweet specials!

Amsterdam Baking Company, Christiaan Huygensplein 17

Medialunas (something between a brioche and a croissant) & Argentinian-style pastries for the win! Their medialunas are made with a sweet enriched (eggs and butter) dough with many layers and a subtle hint of lemon and vanilla. It takes a lot of effort to create, so enjoy this one with your eyes closed. They are also famous for their empanadas, so another one you should try here.

Grammes Amsterdam, Maasstraat 16

Famous for their tasty and crunchy croissants, pain au chocolat and madeleines, but also pretty tarts. Real craftsmanship happening here! The brown butter and Madagascar vanilla madeleine is a fluffy little cake which is packed with flavour and truly is só addictive!

Coffee & Coconuts, Ceintuurbaan 282

Although this beautiful spot in ‘de Pijp’ don’t classify as a pastry shop, they sell a killer almond croissant we believe you should try. Worth coming back for, and while you’re on the go, check out their coffee too which made it into our Best Coffee in Amsterdam list.

Salvo Bake house, Tweede Hugo de Grootstraat 9

Another bakery and pastry shop in Amsterdam that has a foreign touch – this time Italy. Go for their creamy and fluffy brioche – Hazelnut praline maritozzi – or the double-baked pistachio rose raspberry croissant, mmmm.

Scandanavian Ambassy, Sarphatiepark 34

Get your cinnamon buns here people, damn! They are baking their beautiful buns fresh throughout the day. They change their pastries now and then, but right now they are serving delicious buns filled with a creamy marzipan filling, roasted almonds and fresh cream. They have lots of vegan options too. Coffee is pretty good also!
