Pure Markt at the Amstelpark
When? 9th of April
What? A fair, organic market in the Amstelpark
I love this market because it’s in my favorite park in Amsterdam, Amstelpark. A little more far out of the city center but worth paying a visit to on a Sunday. The pure market is a place to explore, discover, taste and learn about all the different foods of Holland (and the rest of the world). Try some Dutch Gouda cheese, Surinam roti, Indian curry, American pie or a freshly chucked oyster. Order an organic beer, coffee or wine to go.

DGTL Festival
When?
15th – 16th of April (Easter Wknd) at Amsterdam NDSM
What? The first techno festival of the season!
The line up is a mix between the big names and the underground techno DJ’s. We especially love this festival because they are so innovating towards sustainability. They use solar panels to gain electricity for the music stages, only serve vegetarian food and have a greenhouse on location. They are also introducing a new concept called the ECO COIN. Tickets are around 50 euro and only Sunday or weekend tickets are still available.

Amsterdam Denim Days

De IJHallen Fleamarket
When? 22nd & 23rd of April, NDSM Werf
What? The biggest fleamarket in Amsterdam!
Last month we strolled around and found some cool items and vintage clothing so we can’t wait for this month! Pay 5 euro per person to get in. Kids pay 2 euro. Parking is free. Bring a warm coat because it can get chilly, even if the market is inside the large hall. Want to sell stuff? You can order a stall on the Website.

Koningsdag (Kingsday)
When? 27th of April

What? Celebrating the Dutch Kings birthday
This needs a little introduction. If you’re not Dutch and you are visiting our country on the 26th/27th of April, you’re in for a treat..
Kingsday 2017 (previously called Queensday) is a true happening in the Netherlands. First of all, we celebrate the Kings birthday and everybody gets a day off work. Secondly, there are a large number of flea markets all throughout the country but Amsterdam is probably the biggest when it comes to selling junk on the streets and organizing parties. The night before Kingsday, which is called Kingsnight (duh), is also worth going out for. There are night markets and a few parties. On Kingsday the parties start at 12 noon and finish by 8pm. After that you can go to a few clubs. We advise you to check out the flea markets in the morning to experience the real Kingsday. Oh and..dress up in orange. (it’s the new black!)

Kingsday 2017

Enjoy this April in Amsterdam! This calendar will be updated regularly so keep an eye out!

Love,

Wander-Lust
