Hello July! Full of sunshine, flipflops, shorts and skirts. (ok, we will experience the occasional rain, because it’s a Dutch summer after all) But we are happy that July has arrived because there are so many cool events in Amsterdam! Here are our favourites!
Summer Nights in Artis (Zomeravonden)
When? June – July – Aug, Artis Zoo
What? Saturday evenings in the Zoo until the sun goes down.
Artis Zoo lets people enjoy Saturday evening until the sun goes down by opening up their doors to the public. There will be performances, music, storytellers and you can learn about the animals and their nightly activities. Check the website for more info

Vondelpark Open Air Theater
When? from the 5th of May throughout summer
What? Concerts, performances and fun for children
This open air theater in the middle of the famous Vondelpark has been organizing music performances since 1974. For the next 5 months you can enjoy performances and concerts on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Chin Chin Festival
When? 6h of July at Tuinen van West
Enjoy the second edition of the ChinChin Festival in the sunny Tuinen van West in Amsterdam. With 6 stages and music from all different genres, this is going to be a good one. Limited tickets are available for €43,-.
International Kids Festival
When? 7th of July DOK Amsterdam | 12.00 – 19.00
Did you know that there are many expat families living in Amsterdam? Kids can sometimes find it hard to adjust to the busy Amsterdam life, with Dutch being a difficult language to learn. This weekend, there is an International Kids Festival for kids of all ages and cultures. DJ’s, food & drinks and activities will bring kids from all walks of life together!
Sunday Market
When? Sunday 7th of July, Westergasterrein
Our favourite market in Amsterdam is back this month with local goods, foods and activities for young and old!
Rooftop Movie Nights
When? 5th & 6th of July, Floor 17
Sit down and relax in our comfy chairs by TERAPY while enjoying some good food & drinks on the rooftop of Ramada’s Hotel, Floor 17. This weekend you can pick rom 2 movies; The Silence of the Lambs on Friday and The big Lebowski on Saturday. Reserve your spot here!
Kwaku Summer Festival
When? 13th of July, Nelson Mandela Park
More than 100 tropical food stands, music that will make your hips (and bum) move, and it’s on every weekend up until the 5th of August. It used to be free but now you pay a small fee of 6 to 9 Euro that is so worth it! www.kwakufestival.nl
Trek Food Truck Festival
When? 12th – 15th of July, Amstel Park
What? Mobile trucks with great food
This weekend, the Amstel Park, one of our favorite parks by the way, is transformed into a food truck market with lot’s of delicious meals to choose from! This food festival is a moving festival and the Dutch capital is just one of the cities where they will strike down. www.festival-trek.nl
Streetfood Festival
When? 13th & 14th of July, Johan Mynskenpark 12
Another food festival? Yes, but this one is new! It will be an open-air StreetFood paradise and if we have to believe the organisors, it will be a varied range of foodtrucks with a variety of dishes such as pokebowls, Surinams, vegetarian, organic pizza’s, royale BBQ and much more. Entrance is free!

On The Roof
When? From the 12th of July up until the 7th of Sept
What? Music with a view
Enjoy jazz sounds and world music on top of the Op Zeezand with a fantastic view over ‘T IJ. Ticket are available from €14,-. The capacity is limited with only 100 seats per show, so make sure to book your tickets in time. www.on-the-roof.com
Summer Breeze Latin Night
When? 11th of July, Westergas
Every Thursday night, you can shake your hips at this outdoor latin party at westergasterrsas. (with rain it’s usually cancelled). You can learn and participate in Salsa, Zouk, Bachata and Kizomba dancing. Entrance is free and dancing outside starts at 7pm and moves indoor at 11pm.
Climate Tribe by Wicked Thoughts
When? 18th of July at Wicked Grounds Warehouse
An evening filled with music, inspirational talks, real food and group meditation to heal ourselves and the world. Funds raised will be donated to If Not Us Then Who. Reserve your spot here!
Milkshake Festival
When? 27th & 28th of July in Westerpark
What? LGTB Festival for all
If your milkshake brings all the boys to the yard, you’re at the right address because this LGTB friendly festival is bright, pleasantly shocking and fun! www.milkshakefestival.com
Pride Walk Amsterdam
When? 27th of July, Amsterdam
Every year, by tradition, Pride Amsterdam is opened by the Pride Walk. With the Pride Walk we want to draw attention to the situation of LGBTIs in countries where homosexuality is included in the penal code, by carrying the flags of those countries. www.pride.amsterdam
