Mr. Miyagi & Jones, Zijlstraat 56-58
They have restaurants in Utrecht, Arnhem, and Haarlem is properly their best location. At Miyaki & Jones you can enjoy a variety of Asian dishes with a Western twist – call it A-fusion. You can order a la carte but they have a nice deal where you order a three-course menu that includes 2 dishes per person if you share with a friend. Our favourite dishes to choose from are the crispy mango salad, spicy jacked shrimp or the peking duck crepes. Konomi, Gedempte Oude Gracht 101
Another amazing Asian restaurant in Haarlem is this Japanese restaurant Konomi. It’s quite small inside, with space for around 10 tables, which makes the setting comfortable and cozy. Dishes are made up incredibly pretty and colorful, and we can pretty much recommend everything on the menu. The sushi rice felt a bit too hard, yet the flavors of the fish (especially the soft-shell crab) made up for it. The Sashimi is soft as it should be, and new on the menu is Konomi’s Shrimp & Vongoles, delicious!
BistroBar Indonesia, Zijlstraat 49
Having Indonesian roots, authentic favors are of major importance. Bistrobar Indonesia comes very close, and we loved their level of spice! We only experienced their take-out concept during the pandemic, but if you come for dinner you will notice the dark and cozy decor. Dishes are presented very well, and you can choose
Cafe Samabe – Indonesian Kitchen Haarlem
Another Indonesian restaurant in Haarlem is Samabe on the Korte Veerstraat. Although we didn’t find that the flavours were as authentic as Bistrobar Indonesia, we enjoyed their traditional rice table concept. Small dishes with veggie and meat combined, or you can pick a fully vegetarian rice table. Both are €32,50 p.p. Rice, cold and warm – you won’t be able to finish it all! Inside, tables and the bar reminded us a little bit of a brown cafe, but the colourful wall painting and many plants brings you to the tropics. A great place to start your evening in Haarlem.
