BEST BEACHES OF LANZAROTE (including a hidden one!)

If you fly to a volcanic island like Lanzarote, you probably ask yourself if there are any nice beaches. Yes, Lanzarote has partly black beaches, but don’t worry, light sandy beach options coming your way! These are the beach beaches on Lanzarote!

Beaches on Lanzarote are often mysterious and unique

Playa de las Conchas

this beach is by far the prettiest beach on this list but is located on La Graciosa island. Officially, this belongs to Lanzarote, so it belongs on the list for the beach beaches on Lanzarote! To get there you must take the ferry (€14,- each way), and you must cycle uphill for about 25 minutes from the port. Hidden gems, come with a bit of effort – but Playa de las Conchas certainly makes up for it. There is a volcano next to it, which you can climb for an even better view.

Playa Mujeres

This beach on Lanzarote is actually located next to Playa Papagayo and belongs to the same region. It’s quite popular, but very large. Therefore it never feels too crowded, and there is plenty of space to put down your towel.

Playa Papagayo

Mentioned in most blogs about Lanzarote, so nothing new here. Yet, we need to mention it because it is rather special. Situated between a cove of volcanic rock, Playa Papagayo is also a favorite for families, as there are no strong currents due to its sheltered location. The water is clear and shallow, to begin with. Bring your own umbrella and have lunch at one of the cafés on the top.

Playa Famara

When we arrived at this beach, the sun was about to set, and it looked like being on another planet. Purple and pink tones in combination with the sea fog, make this beach look mysterious. Its a favourite with surfers, and therefore you’ll find quite a few quirky cafés and hangouts in Famara village. Check the vibe and drive to Playa Famara!

Playa de Montaña Bermeja

This black beach is great to visit during sunset and is located near El Golfo, read more about all the villages in our Lanzarote Guide. The waves are big, so perfect for surfers, but not so much for swimmers. Check the weather and conditions before you enter.
