Located on the buzzing Bermondsey Street, Baccalà is a local Italian restaurant founded and run by two couples. The restaurant opened not long before England went into the first lockdown but Fabio and Moreno adapted quickly, thus was born the first finish-at-home kit. A new menu is designed by Moreno each week, using a mix of fresh local produce and imported ingredients from Italy. The dishes burst with both colours and flavours!
Each home cooking kit comes with a generous portion of their signature tiramisu. These home cooking kits are available for collection every Friday and Saturday evening. Additionally, you can also get it delivered to your door if you live around the neighbourhood. The contemporary restaurant has also transformed into a fishmonger and grocery shop, selling all kinds of Italian treasures and wine during the day. Surely I can’t be the only one who has dreamt of escaping to the Mediterranean multiple times during the lockdowns? Whilst the travel bans are still in place, Ceru has continued to bring us a taste of the eastern Mediterranean through their contemporary but lavish Levantine cook at home kits. From packaging to menus, everything bit of the kit was elegantly designed and made with sustainability in mind. Four choices, including a vegan option, the Ceru meal kits are full of spices and variety. The lamb was so delicate and the hummus is unlike any other hummus we’ve tasted before! Spice lovers rejoice! Noodle&Beer is a vibrant local restaurant in East London, just a stone throw away from Spitalfields Market. Despite having just opened its doors in late December 2019, the restaurant quickly became very popular amongst the locals. When national lockdown restrictions were first put in place, Noodle&Beer quickly put together a selection of home noodle kits so that customers can not only satisfy their cravings but also share the joy of preparing the Sichuan noodles that inspired Mr Wang to start the business. With a selection of toppings, including a delicious vegetarian option, you too can recreate their signature Chongqing Xiaomian in the comfort of your own home! They offer both collection and delivery for those who live a little further in the city. As the name suggests, sit down, laid back and enjoy your noodles with a cold beer!

The preparation process was so much fun and the end result was nothing short of rewarding. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve seen scallops so big and meaty. With each course being very generously portioned, you’re sure to be left in a food coma by the end of it. Although I must say, it’s absolutely worth it.
