27 Oct BEST PLACES TO VISIT IN BISHKEK, KYRGYZSTAN
Bishkek is an underrated city, to say the least. Although it isn’t comparable to other Asian capitals like Bangkok or Samarkand. About five years ago, we would tell you to skip Bishkek altogether, but times are changing, and we would like to highlight a few of the best places in Bishkek. Get ready, here’s the full guide for a visit to the capital of Kyrgyzstan.
Things to know about Bishkek
A little introduction never hurt anyone so there it goes.
- Bishkek has about 1 million residents but it doesn’t feel crowded.
- The city is surrounded by mountains in the distance and is full of monumental statues that represent local heroes. In between the statues and squares, you’ll find that Bishkek has many small parks where you can relax.
- When the evening falls, especially on the weekend, it looks like a big playground for kids. Ferris wheels, games, and electric cars are available for hire and everyone seems to be out on the streets.
- People are very friendly, and taxis are very affordable.
Surprisingly, there is a little bit of a coffee culture happening in the city. Not massively but it’s coming. We sipped on some very decent coffee and they even serve almond milk in some coffee houses.
Where to Stay in Bishkek
We found a couple of nice hotels in Bishkek but we want to highlight the hotels below with you, so you can easily make up your mind.
Park Hotel
This hotel classifies as a four star hotel, and although it may not look like this in the first place, its a very nice place to stay in Bishkek. Location wise, it’s only a 10 minute walk from all the highlights. Beds are comfortable, and they offer good room-service, which we have to admit using a few times. Downstairs is a pool, and they offer massages! Book this hotel.
Navat Hotel
The pictures online don’t do this hotel justice, because we absolutely loved this accommodation. Friendly staff, unique rooms, and nice design. Prices are decent, and you can also rent a bicycle to explore the city. Book this hotel.

Top places to eat & drink in Bishkek
Well, there a line we thought we would never say, but as a mater of fact, we found some! Even in the most remote area’s we managed to find what our bellies wanted. Here’s a top 5.
Secret Garden
Right across Park Hotel, is this hidden gem by the name of Secret Garden. A large mural gives this secret space away, and they offer great coffee, juices and a small menu with bites and salads. Service was a bit slow when we were there, and you need to translate the menu with your phone. Other than that, we think this a a must visit spot in Bishkek.
Biscuit Coffeeshop
Our favorite hangout for matcha lattes, croissant, pastries and amazing juices. This is a trendy spot, located in the middle of nowhere, in between high grew building and apartment blocks. And suddenly, you’ll find Biscuit, such a trendy hotspot! Stay here for a while because you’ll love it.
Baan Baan Thai Café
The most random name you’ll come across, but this was one of the nicest places we visited in Bishkek. Foodwise, flavours could be a little better, but it was presented beautifully, and the place looks amazing. The owner made everything by hand, and there are plenty of corners to get lost in. Please not, that there are two locations, we visited on 193а Tynystanova Street.
Capito
Another café we didn’t know Bishkek had, and totally surprised us. Their IG page is creative, and so are their coffee and dishes. Popular by the younger crowd, and a perfect lunch spot in Bishkek.

Now, this restaurants name may be off-putting, but it’s not what you think it is. No, it’s not a local fried chicken restaurant, it’s actually a super nice place with Korean food and karaoke.
