The Lonely Planet published the highly anticipated Best In Travel List for 2024. Destinations across the globe hope to be included, as it usually results in a gain in tourism. This year, however, it will be a bit different.

However, when the world came to a standstill in 2020, it was clear that travelling won’t be the same again, and it shouldn’t be. This edition focuses on the best sustainable travel experiences so that the traveler is guaranteed to have a positive impact wherever they go. These are the best places to travel in 2024.

Coming at number three is one city we have visited a lot! Freiburg is one of Germany’s most sustainable cities and in our opinion still a bit underrated. Firstly, Freiburg is located next to the amazing Black Forest and has mountains surrounding the city. Secondly, fresh mountain water runs through the city and the city centre is car-free.
