Cafe Zurich in Amsterdam West

Cafe Zurich has been around for a number of years now but it’s right to say that this place really changed the face of the Mercatorplein in Amsterdam West. Where before it was an empty dull square, is now a vibrant area where adults chat, eat and drink and children play. During spring and summer the large outside terras is never empty and one of the largest in Amsterdam West. During Autumn and winter it’s a cozy place to drink hot chocolate by the fire place.

Cozy and stylish

Cafe Zurich is easy to reach by tram 17 or 13 and there is a parking lot right underneath the restaurant if you come by car. The building has been there for about 90 years and was meant to serve as a place where the neighborhood would come together. Since the new opening of Cafe Zurich, I have been enjoying my latte’s, lunches and dinners here. But due to my busy schedule, I haven’t had the change to pop in for food in a while. Time to find out what the new menu is all about!

The New Menu
I had the privilege to taste several dishes from the menu and I started with a mousse of sweet potato with cauliflower and my boyfriend tried the mackerel with dille, crunchy croutons and lime mayonaise. He got an extra dish of wild deer with red cabbage and mustard gravy. For mains I got lentils with different mushrooms, poached egg and Parmesan cheese. We also tried cod with seasonal veggies plus the my boyfriend tasted the duck with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. Oh, and you should definitely order some of the homemade fries of fries with truffle, yummie! Gosh, my belly was about to pop but I could not resist the banana cake with white chocolate mouse.. oh yes, this was a good dinner.

I remembered that I should pop in more often and enjoy these evenings with good company and great food! The special Christmas dishes are on the menu until the 30st of January.
