With more than 300.000 participants this year, travel website Condé Nast has published their annual readers choice awards and the results variate from best hotels, restaurants, resorts and the best to offer in different continents. Here’s what we liked best:
Best Hotels in the World
1. Ballyfin Demense
Coming in at nummer one is this amazing hotel in Ireland. (yes, Ireland!) www.ballyfin.com
41. Grand Hotel Kronenhof, Switzerland
Perfect for that winter getaway if you ask us! Shame that Switzerland is so expensive but perhaps it’s worth saving your travel money for right? www.kronenhof.com
50. Baron’s Cove, New York
It came in at number 50 but that still means it’s top notch and of of the best hotels in the world. We love the look of it because it’s surrounded by nature and still close to the big apple. www.baronscove.com
Best Cities in the World
25. Amsterdam, Netherlands
Coming in at number 25 is our hometown Amsterdam! Yes, we totally agree it should be in the list of course ;-). Have you been yet? Check out our Amsterdam Guide for all the hotspots and tips!
1. Tokio, Japan
Once voted as the most expensive city in the world, Tokio is still people’s favorite city in the world if we believe the 300.000 voters of Condé Nast.
9. Barcelona, Spain
One of Europe’s best cities for sure! We’ve been here quite a few times and Barcelona is the perfect mix of urban meets beach. Did we mention the amazing Tapas yet? Want tips about Barcelona, read our articles here.
Best Domestic Airlines
1. Virgin America
Run by Sir Richard Brandson, this company is innovating and always trying to keep it’s customers happy. We would be too knowing that they have Netflix streaming and seat massaging!
3. Hawaiian Airlines
They sound tropical and they look it too. That’s enough for us.
5. SouthWest Airlines
It’s the only airline that gives you two free checked bags and lets you change your ticket without penalty. Sold!
Best Islands in the World
17. Santorini, Greece
We’ve been here and yes, it’s completely breathtaking. Endless views of the sea and super romantic.
2. Palawan, Philipines
We totally agree with this one! It’s one of the most beautiful places Elke’s been to. Still remote and the island you can only dream of.
1. Baracay, Philippines
Another island on the Philippines but we have to dissagree with this result. Boracay is a beautiful island, that’s no lie BUT it’s swamped by tourists and party people which makes it the next Koh Phi Phi.
