05 Aug ECO HOTEL & RESTAURANT PLANTAGE ROCOCO
After the huge success of Buitenplaats Plantage, the eco-hotel and restaurant Plantage Rococo is the latest project of the family de Rijk.
Owner An de Rijk told me she walked into the estate for the first time when she was 22 years old. She felt a connection immediately, even though she wasn’t a fan of historical buildings. Not knowing that more than 25 years later, she and her husband would buy the beautiful land house that used to be occupied by the mayors of Amsterdam, dating back to the 1900s. Two months ago Plantage Rococo opened its doors.
This hotel embraces the values of a sustainable & eco-lifestyle
Eco-Hotel Rococo
Plantage Rococo isn’t your usual hotel. Everything has been created with an ecological touch. The beds are from CocoMat and the sheets made from organic cotton. Details such as the hotel book with a vegan leather case and the many plants make it feel like a dream hotel straight out of a Condénast Traveller magazine.
Find out how to turn your own bedroom in a hotel!
There are five luxury suits and more than nine family rooms that all have their own bathroom and a shared toilet. This means that these rooms are also much more affordable as you would expect. You can stay here from about 95 euro per night!
The restaurant/café
All the food is 100% organic and their supplier is De Lindehof farm. This means high quality and locally produced food. The exquisite dining room has maintained its historical appearance just like the rest of the building. The marble floor has been restored and the walls feature the original paintings.
At Plantage Rococo we cook in a way that brings out the best in the flavours and optimally preserves the vitamins. You can taste it, you can feel it. – vegan chefs -Danny Smits & Mike Ruitenburg.
They serve vegetarian, vegan and glutenfree dishes but meat and fish lovers also have enough to choose from. The meat is organic and produced at The Lindenhof while the fish comes from Jan van As in Amsterdam. Everything is prepared in the historical maiden’s kitchen in the estate where you can take a peek if you want. If you’re an outdoor kind of person, you can also order a picknick basket and enjoy your food & drinks in the grass or explore the surroundings.
In the café you can drink coffee, tea and juices and incredible freshly baked cakes that you would drive the extra mile for. The outside terrace is something else. It features 26 arches of grass overlooking a field of horses. Relax in one of the bohemian hammocks or sit at one of the wooden tables spread over the field.
If you stay here as a hotel guest you can rent a bicycle and explore the region, which is definitely worth it. (I know because I live around the corner!)
All in all, this place is an ecological dream that you need to visit! I will be back for lunch soon!
Love,
Elke
