Electric Love Festival Salzburg

Electric Love Salzburg: Austria’s Biggest EDM festival

3 days of partying while being surrounded by the most beautiful mountains and lakes in Salzburg – sounds pretty cool right?! From Drum & Bass to Hip-Hop and from Hardstyle to Tech House – Electric Love is one of Austria’s biggest music festivals with more than 160+ artists performing. Wander-Lust was invited to experience this popular event, and as true festival lovers, we were more than keen to check it out! Let’s get into detail about E.L.F and our opinion of this 3-day weekender.

The festival grounds at Electric Love Salzburg

Music fanatics from all over Europe gather together for a 3-day festival experience in the middle of a beautiful Austrian landscape. The road to the festival grounds is already a breath-taking one, as you pass the crystal-blue Fuschl lake on the way to the entrance. The party area is located in the valley between the hills and the camping areas can be found within a 15 minute walk.

E.L.F contains five huge venues, and each one of them are designed to fit the genre of music playing at that stage. For example: the main stage had amazing LED and laser lightning which smoothly synchronised with each beat drop – while the hardstyle stage has a robust industrial decor with lots of fire flames spitting from the stage.

As for the food, there were food stalls and take-away stands close to every stage. Let’s say within 400 meters in every direction you’d be standing at a place where you can grab something to fill up your belly. There were actually lots of available cuisines: from chocolate waffles for dessert to Italian pasta and from Austrian schnitzel to vegan dishes – there’s a catch for everyone! Also I’m giving plus points for the hygiene and tidiness of this festival. I’ve rarely spotted such few trash on a festival terrain as it was at electric love!

Fun fact: Electric Love implemented an interesting concept to make sure the festival grounds remain tidy.
They charge you 15 euros at the beginning of the festival for a garbage bag and a green token. If you return the bag filled up afterwards together with the token, you’ll get your money back. Quite smart!

E.L.F ORGANICS Beach

When the first sun-rays came out, it made the unique colours of the Fuschlsee shimmer. The beach area is the perfect place to recharge and chill with your party buddies. Have a coffee, take a swim in the lake, get you’re make-up done (glitters!) or get creative with spray painting and jewellery making. Afterwards you can grab a cocktail which allows you to fully relax until you hit the party playground again in the late afternoon.

Tip: The Fuschl see region is a beautiful area that is definitely worth exploring. Rent a paddle board at Sup Box and go explore the crystal-blue lake.

The Line-up

No wonder why this festival is so popular as it seriously has many of the biggest DJ names you could think of. From Armin van Buuren, Steve Aoki, Kygo, to Dillon Francis, Fisher, Robin Schulz and Dan Rider. I also liked the fact that the performances start at 16:00 p.m so you have enough time to recharge during the day. Because of this you won’t miss any cool acts or artists. The program runs until the early morning.

The vibe at Electric Love Salzburg

The overall vibe of the festival was just.. great! The first day we got poured by rain showers but this didn’t stop anyone from having a frigging awesome time. Tens of thousands of people in ponchos were jumping, dancing and laughing with each other in the rain. The second day was super sunny and the energy of the people was even higher than the day before. The festival attracts many international visitors, which makes it a very fun and diverse audience. We had lots of laughs and fun conversations with random people that we met somewhere on the party grounds!

Combine the festival with a day-trip to Salzburg. It is a beautiful city characterized by its historic centre filled with narrow streets and spacious squares. Salzburg has a harmonious blend of scenic landscapes, architecture, art and culture which is definitely worth a visit.

My verdict about Electric Love

As a dutchie – we’re quite spoiled with the quality of festivals. However, Electric Love seriously surprised me. The diversity in EDM music, the stages, the location and – last but definitely not least – the people make it truly a one of a kind festival experience. A highly recommended festival if you are into EDM, hardstyle, house or drum & bass. In addition, SalzburgerLand is a fantastic holiday region in Austria with its beautiful nature and many nice sights (imposing castles, winding mountain passes, big waterfalls). On the website of salzburgerland you can read more about this region and the activities it has to offer.

See you next year?
