03 Jan Le Petit Bistro » A bit of Paris in Amsterdam
Amsterdam is full of wonderful hotels. Big, small, luxurious and boutique. Little do we know that a lot of hotels have some of the most amazing restaurants located inside. One by one I am trying to figure them all out and discover the food these restaurants have to offer. One of which particularly got my attention; Le Petit Bistro in Hotel Sofitel Legend The Grand.
The lunch room was founded in 2014 and is part of the well renowned restaurant Bridges (inspired by Ron Blauw). Where at Bridges you can enjoy a fine dining cuisine (the restaurant has a Michelin Star), you can enjoy a wonderful laidback lunch or dinner at Le Petit Bistro. You look out into the hotel garden and the marmer tables and leather chairs give it a true Parisian ambiance. There is enough space for 28 guest and you can also sit at the bar first where guest can enjoy oysters, amuses and a drink before they sit at the table. Hotel and guests of Bridges all sit here.
The Menu
You will find classic dishes on the menu but with a modern twist. I got to enjoy a starter, in between dish and a main course. First up the amuse at the bar of course! This bar is open from 5 till 11pm. New head chef Andrès Delpeut started about in August and managed to create a menu that is very accessible for everyone. Fish, meat or vegetarian, you can feast your taste buds over here. My amuse was a caprese salad on puff pastry and my starter was a rich burrata cheese with small artichokes. For mains I had a colorful vegetable risotto (you can wake me up for this!) and my date had a traditional Boeuf Bourguignon, Parisian mushrooms and bacon. Each plate is different from one another and I enjoyed a surprise menu so I didn’t realize I also received a in-between-dish. For this reason I didn’t managed to find the space for a dessert but if you go here you MUST check them out! (Especially the white chocolate with a grapefruit snowball) Besides the food, they serve some amazing wines and if you want to stay healthy you can order a slow pressed juice from sapje.
Buratta and smoked salmon for starters
Yes, it’s more than just a carrot! Seasonal veggies with a vegetable marbré and basilicum crème.
Enjoying the vegetable risotto while you can see the traditional stewed meat dish across
You can make it as pricey as you want and a set 3-course menu is already available at €36,50. Le Petit Bistro is open 7 days a week from 12am till 11pm. Valet parking is possible but ey it’s still Amsterdam so let’s grab your bicycle and cycle to Paris!
