New hotspots in Amsterdam

Is an ongoing thing in Amsterdam, new hotspots. They are like freakin’ mushrooms popping up, but you don’t hear us complaining! We’ve selected 8 new hotspots that have just opened or will open soon so you have plenty of new things to try this month!

VJFB 2D, Staringplein 22

Short for the Vegan Junkfood Bar 2D! Yes, vegan snackbar joint are opening another venue this September and this time it’s themed! Inspired by this café in Seoul, it’s like walking into the music video of Take on Me (if you’re an 80’s kid, you’ll know). Expect the same kind of food, but a different décor. As they describe it; each and every corner will be Instagrammable, amazing and have optical illusions.

New York, New York! Oh how we miss this city. Thankfully, this brand new and soon to open café in Amsterdam East will bring that New York flavour. Inspired by NYC in olden days, they hint on IG thus far. But a little spy told us they will be open this November! Stay tuned!

Celia Amsterdam, Nieuwendijk 60

And were staying in the USA because another new hotspot in Amsterdam with a California theme has just opened. Here you can eat all day (cocktail)-brunch and dinner. So what can you expect? Well, if you have ever been in “Cali”, you know they love food that is trendy, tasty but a little guilty free if you know what we mean. Lot’s of egg dishes, (veggie) burgers, taco’s and organic overnight oats. For dinner they serve small (to share) and larger plates with market veggies and fresh fish. Are you ready for a little California Dreaming?

Biertuin, Mercatorplein

Unfortunately, café Fritz has closed its doors but instead, theBiertuin, which you can also find in other locations in Ameterdam, has opened here. Hence the name, it will sell many different beers on tap and bottle but also roasted chicken, burgers, salads and cocktails. We think this will be a favourite for group of friends and the occasional “after work drinks”.

Molly’s Arena Pop Up

Currently they have opened a pop-up shop with fluffy pancakes! Hold your horses because we’re exited about this brand new Japanese venue. Molly’s Arena will be a Japanese Arcade where you can eat ramen soup and fluffy pancakes! And it’s probably the pancakes why we will be coming here! The arcade is inspired by Akihabara culture and the games are traditional Japanese, like classic air-hockey but also new high tech games.

Fiona, Warmoesstraat 14

They say you can eat here like you are in Mexico! With the help of Mexican chef Zahie Tellez, the team behind Fiona has created an authentic menu and creative cocktails. If you are not crazy about Mexican food, you should still visit because of the stylish interior. Will this new Mexican hotspot will pass the test of time? We can’t wait to try, that’s for sure!

De Japanner Strandeiland, IJburg Beach

It’s been a bit quiet around IJburg beach lately since they decided to close Blijburg due to housing projects. It was a shame because it’s a great location with cool vibes. Thankfully, the Japanner has decided to strike down the empty spot. They haven’t opened yet, but will be soon!

Leidse Restaurant Bar, Kleine Gartmanplantsoen 11-H

Located at one of the (once) busiest of places, Leidse is looking forward to welcome back people after this while pandemic is over. That being said, this new restaurant/bar is situated in a building that has changed owners and businesses more than Jeniffer Lopez has changed boyfriends. However, we are looking forward to the hustle and sipping on cocktails like people are suppose to in this spot! Opening soon!

Have fun discovering these new places!
