New restaurants in Amsterdam

Is an ongoing thing in Amsterdam, new hotspots. They are like freakin’ mushrooms popping up, but you don’t hear us complaining!

We’ve selected the best new restaurants in Amsterdam that have just opened or will open soon so you have plenty of new things to try this month!

Bennie’s, Helicopterstraat 28

What started as a joke on a night at the bar, turned into a pop-up restaurant, and now Bennie’s is here to stay. Named after his fiancé Benthe Liem, owner Isidoor had zero experience in the hospitality scene. However, good food and wine had always been apart of his life and so his passion turned into a reality. The 200+m² restaurant in the Schinkel district looks serene and simple, and modern. There is no need to attract the influencers that come for a screaming interior, the food speaks for itself.  Their so called “killer wine list” is impressive to say the least, and Chef Rick Swinkels makes each dish a feast. Open seven days a week from 12 till 12. Go check it out!

Nonna, Jan Pieter Heijestraat 110

If you haven’t heard of this restaurant this month, you have lived under a stone – social media wise. Restaurant Nonna is an oth to all grandmothers, Italian in particular that can cook up a good comfort meal. Italian ‘Nonna’s’ are known for their amazing food, and that’s exactly what owners Thijs and Tijn wanted to deliver.

Restaurant Novi, Middenweg 35

Italian restaurant Novi will open its doors in Amsterdam’s Watergraafsmeer neighborhood in April. Novi (also the name of Elke’s daughter) will be a real neighborhood restaurant for families. In good Italian fashion, the focus is on the quality of the food and drink; not on trying to be as hip as possible.

Jacob, Bilderdijkstraat 217

Early April, Jacob’, a new restobar opened on the Bilderdijkstraat in Amsterdam Oud- West. It used to be the former location of Bar Dapper, so that might ring a bell. Collaborating with some of Amsterdam’s beloved food and beverage initiatives, Jacob will be a place where good food goes hand in hand with casual conviviality. The people behind Jacob are the same as cafes Weber, LUX and Helmers, are stepping into a new culinary chapter. Oh, and unimportant at all; they have an outside terrace! Open from Wed till Sunday from 2pm till 1am and 3am in the wknds.

Pizza, but not just pizza. At Krusta you can come for Southern European starters, homemade pasta’s and yes, pizza. Riot, Amstelveenseweg 7

If you love potatoes, you must visit Riot! Part of Conscious Hotel City, Riot is a shared-dining restobar where creative chefs transform potatoes into real showstoppers. Of course there are potato croquettes on the menu, but also think oeufs mayonnaise with potato roulade and chives or a croissant of potato with duxelles, broad beans, bundle mushrooms and walnuts. Don’t worry, there are plenty of other dishes to choose from, minus potatoes. All dishes and drinks are made with organic ingredients sourced from trusted, local suppliers. In doing so, the kitchen follows the 80/20 principle, meaning the chefs work primarily with vegetables, with occasional forays into sustainable and local fish and meat.

No- Yusu, Korte Papaverweg 17

We’re staying in the Northside, and although this isn’t a new restaurant in Amsterdam, this coffee spot (with some food) is worth a mention. Yusu already has a coffee spot in Amsterdam West, and is known for being the cool kid on the block. Now, they are making Amsterdam North worth traveling across the pond for.
