Omke Jan Friesland

Omke Jan | Cosy Farmhouse in Friesland

Another unique and tastefully staycation in the Netherlands: Omke Jan. A renovated old cosy farmhouse in Friesland, designed by Piet Hein Eek by the waterside. With five lovely rooms, a restaurant with authentic and real food coming from local farmers.

What we mean with unique staycations is unusual locations that offer something different than the typical hotels, where we prefer to stay! We have found another treasure for you, this time in Friesland: Omke Jan.

Frisian Farmhouse Omke Jan

Omke Jan offers the opportunity to stay in a tastefully styled farmhouse in a small village called Woudsend. The place for people that like good and pure food, a great ambiance, comfortable rooms, great designed spaces and beautiful surroundings. Omke Jan has taste! Piet Hein Eek renovated the historic farmhouse into a vibrant meeting place where modern meets authenticity. A beautiful place where cows used to stand and where people now come together to meet & eat.

Food at Omke Jan

Friesland is a ‘milk Mecca! So you can imagine that the milk, butter and cheese from the Frisian cow are present everywhere in Omke Jan’s menu. In addition, most ingredients they use are coming from local farmers. Everything is freshly made with lots of care. The chef and his team serve tasty authentic dishes with typical Frisian delicatessen like sugar bread, airdried sausages, cheese soup and more. They transform the ingredients they can get from locals per day into a delicious dish!

The rooms

Honestly, we didn’t sleep this well in a long long time. The rooms are authentic and cosy. We stayed in one of their spacious rooms with a super comfortable bed with luxurious bedding, and a private bathroom with walk-in shower, toilet and bath! Do you prefer to stay longer, than you could go for “the studio”. It’s a bit more spacious, it has a table for two and a cosy sofa.
