Remember the IAmsterdam sign at museumsquare? Well, a few initiatives have organized a day where everyone is invited to clean the city. The plastic soup is taking its toll and with this event, it brings people together that want to fight the plastic practise by picking up trash. The idea is to build a new sign saying; We Planet. Ramen Food Festival Amsterdam

After a the sushi, burger, and other inventive food festivals, it’s finally time for the first Ramen Food Festival in Amsterdam! 

Ramen is a Japanese broth noodle soup, which has gained immense popularity over the last couple of years, especially in Amsterdam. Time for for a festival! Thought Ramen lover Susam (also the founder of foodblog BySam)

The Ramen Food Festival is for anyone that wants to slurp some noodles!

On Sunday the 17th of February you can check out the food line up, which is quite impressive and filled with 10 Ramen specialist like; Tokyo Ramen Iki, Vattenramen, KU Kitchen & Bar, Ramen Brothers and many more. Besides the different Ramen you can enjoy ramen burgers, Japanese snacks likt karaage, okonomiyaki, takoyaki, Japanese sweets and even free karaoke.

Spring is here and so are the outdoor event in Amsterdam. Of course we have the 4th & 5th of May, two important days where the Dutch remember the victims of World War 2, and where we celebrate our freedom. Besides that, we have food festivals, and we are selling our clothes at a bloggers sale!

By celebrating we should also remember that it’s not always normal to live in a free world. The Netherlands is lucky, but in some countries this is not always the case. Another nice thing to do on the 5th of May, are the Vrijheidsmaaltijden. Basically, you have breakfasts, lunch and dinners around the city, hosted by different organisations, restaurants, hotels, museums or centers. This year, the theme is “De Lieve Stad”, like the late mayor of Amsterdam Eberhard called it. There are too many to mention so visit This Website and pick your favorite. Some meals are free and for some you need to buy tickets. It’s also a chance to meet fellow Amsterdammers while you enjoy a good meal.

What? Run 5km for prostate cancer awereness
It is said that this is the funniest run of the year and everybody can join! It’s a 5KM run through the famous Vondelpark. You can walk, run or beat the track record. The important thing is that you raise awareness. Do you have a moustache? Great! (real or fake are both accepted) Or get dressed up as a pirate or anything you like really. Join the run at


Amsterdam Wine Yoga

What? Yoga with a glas of wine (no joke!)
Wine Yoga is a new rage that is already popular in the USA an is now making it’s way to Europe. Girls Who Drink decided to bring it to Amsterdam and organise this rather special yoga event. If you are thinking you’re going to get drunk while doing the downward facing dog pose, you got it wrong. The wine served is actually alcohol free. This way, balancing a wine glass on your head will be a lot easier. Pregnant women are welcome to join! Curious? What? A cool way to get to know expats and professionals in Amsterdam
Join Expat Republic (check their website for more events!) an evening of professional networking, social networking and fun. This event is for those looking to expand their professional as well as personal network. This event is about connecting you with folks who can be of assistance and vice versa. Need a sounding board for something? Come by. The event is free but you need to buy your own drinks at the bar. Entrance is free but we’ll need you to register so the venue can plan accordingly.

Enjoy fashion shows, expo’s and dress your best at this summer’s fashionweek in Amsterdam. One to watch is the ‘circular fashion’ show where 6 designers use old items (bought at the Kingsday markets this year) to create fashionable items. Rollende Keukens

Busy as always but still worth visiting is the Rollende Keukens (The Roling Kitchens). hundreds of foodtrucks will fill the Westerpark in Amsterdam. When the sun is out, you can bet on it that everyone is having their after work drinks here! Entrance is free but you need to pay for your first glass which you can then re-use. Facebook
