Is an ongoing thing in Amsterdam, new hotspots. They are like freakin’ mushrooms popping up as they do, but you don’t hear us complaining! We’ve selected 7 new hotspots that have just opened or will open soon so you have plenty of new things to try this month!

Vegan Junkfood Bar, Marie Heinekenplein 9 – 10
This is the second location for the Vegan Junkfood Bar and this one they are situated in De Pijp area. It’s also a lot bigger than the location on the Overtoom and the interior is pretty funky too! What to expect? Lot’s of junk food (don’t we love it) but no animals were harmed. Win Win situation right? Plant based burgers, Pizza, Nuggets, Bitterballen and coconut-milk ice-cream is all included on the menu! www.veganjunkfoodbar.com

Let’s stay with comfort food shall we? Because there is a seriously tasty fries shop opening October 14th. We walked by and noticed the rather special interior. It’s like walking into a Frankenstein lab.. for potatoes! You will be greeted by men in long white coats that will take your order. The menu is displayed on a TV screen and potatoes are floating around in watertanks as well as the jellyfish in the wall. You can order your fries that are in coconut oil with different dips like truffel or vegan mayonaise. The traditional Dutch croquette is also available with vegetarian or vegan options. Chin Chin Club, Rozengracht 133
Dimsum and karaoke is always a great combination and the owners of the ChinChin Club must have noticed because the Asian trend is growing in Europe. Expect confusion Chinese food, quirky cocktails, nostalgic games and late-night dancing. Chin Chin Club is the place where that one last drink turned into one too many. Mr. Haz Tacobar, Egelantiersstraat 24
From Asian food to Mexican. For all day taco’s and cocktails, you need to visit Mr. Haz. On weekends they stay open as late as 3am so it’s the perfect place to hang around. You can also come in for a freshly brewed coffee and specialty beers. Oh, and they serve mescal! What’s not to like?! Facebook Page

Mook Pancakes, Jodenbreestraat 144
They have opened a second location! At Mook you can get some of the best breakfast and lunch pancakes and this one located is right in the city center so that’s good for everyone! Hopefully this will also shorten the que at De Clerqstraat. They are open from 9am to 9pm. Facebook Page

Nacarat, Rokin 49
Renowned restaurant owner and chef Ron Blauw has opened Nacarat back in May but with just opened department store Hudson Bay, it’s really the time to go now. A restaurant with Middle Eastern influences where you can indulge your taste buds. It’s located on the top floor where you can go for lunch and dinner while enjoying the view of Amsterdam. At night, when Hudson’s Bay closes, make sure you walk into the small alley to find the entrance. www.nacarat.nl

Corner Bakery in Amsterdam West, Koningin Wilhelminaplein 60
Damn, I used to live right at this new location. But no worries, I will be back for the famous freaky shakes, amazing bread rolls and colorful brunch dishes. The corner Bakery is an insta famous brunch spot in Amsterdam South next to the Museum Square. They became so popular that it could be difficult to get a table around lunchtime or during the weekend. They have said to open in October so we can’t wait! Facebook page

In the year that she would have turned 90 years old, the Nieuwe Kerk (New Church on the Dam Square) is showcasing photographs and items from her house in this exhibition. Items include accessories, clothes and other personal belongings. Website

Green Up Your Life & National Geograhic Channel present: Before The Flood Screening
When? 26th of Oct, Chicago Social Club
What? Exclusive screening of the documentaire Before The Flood
Elke and Emanuelle Vos are organizing this event in collaboration with the National Geographic Channel. The documentary will be aired on Television on the 30th of October so this screening is the exclusive premiere. Directed by Fisher Stevens, Produced by Leonardo Dicaprio and Executive Produced by Martin Scorsese. Before The Flood is the most important film you will see this year.

Must visit places for this Fall

Summer is almost over but that doesn’t mean you can’t start planning your next trip. October is a great period to pack that suitcase and enjoy those last rays of sunlight or visit a beautiful city. These are our must visit places for this fall.

1. Marrakesh, Morocco
With a reasonable short flight of 3,5 hours (from Amsterdam) it’s the perfect getaway to soak up the sunshine in October. Check Skyscanner for the best prices and try to book your accommodation beforehand to get the best deals. Besides Marrakesh, Morocco has a lot more to offer. You can surf in Taghazout, ride camels in the Sahara or take a dip into the shallow waters of Paradise Valley.

2. Dubai, Emirates
If you want heat, you’re gonna get it here. (31-36 degrees!) It might be a little more expensive than a European break but this will be an experience you won’t forget. Shopping, fine dining and skydiving are some of the things Dubai brings to the table. KLM is offering flights from €397 in their world deal weeks at the moment so be quick!

3. Dubrovnik, Croatia
This affordable getaway is still warm in the fall and prices are particularly low during this period. You have all the space to enjoy the magnificent beaches. Dubrovnik is also great for mountain hiking and enjoy the beautiful colors. Flights are available from about €200 from Amsterdam.

4. Miami, Florida
It’s the best time to visit Miami the locals say. Why? Because most tourist will be gone (a lot better than spring break!) and temperatures are still very nice. If you’re visiting with kids, you can always visit Disney World (yes, it’s a must see with kids) or if you’re the adventurer you can watch crocodiles in the everglades.

5. Folegandros, Greece
If you want total zen, no fuss, good food and stunning views, you must visit Folegandros. It’s great the whole year round but summer is still happening in Folegandros in the fall. You can fly to Athens (about 180 euro’s) and take the speedy boat service to the island in just 4 hours. You can also fly to Santorini and take the boat in just 45 minutes. Flights to Santorini are more expensive though. One thing is for sure; you will feel completely recharged when you return.

8. Jordan, Middle East
One of the worlds most spectacular sights are found right here but remain unseen by so many. In October there are still bright sunny days that light the rock of Petra up rose-red; but it is cool enough to journey into the Valley of the Moon on camel or horseback by day, and warm enough to sleep out under the starry sky by night. Flights from 300 euro’s with Turkish Airlines.

7. Munich, Germany
Why Munich? Because it’s the Oktoberfest of course! Starting from the 19th of Sept until the 4th of October. The festive fall event is not just about beer drinking anymore but also offers music, dance, food, markets and a fair. Grab your car and make a roadtrip or fly over for about 200 euro’s with several airlines.
