Villages in Cyprus
There are many cute villages in Cyprus, known for their stone-built homes, picturesque landscapes, and vibrant local life. Here are some of the most captivating mountain villages in Cyprus:
Pano Lefkara & Kato Lefkara – best villages in Cyprus
Two villages for the price of one! Pano, which means high, and is the larger Cyprian village of the two. It has quaint little streets to wander around, colourful houses, a main street with a few restaurants, bars and shops. Kato, which means low, is much smaller, and only has around a hundred inhabitants and one restaurant. If you arrive during the right month (October/November), you will see many beautiful flowers.

Pissouri – cute village in Cyprus
This tiny village in Cyprus is wonderful, and has one main square with a restaurant that offers cooking lessons and hiking excursions. There is one main café, a wine bar, and one shop where you can buy just about anything. It was one of our favorite villages in Cyprus we visited. Even though it’s small, it was super relaxing and we loved the friendly people.

Platres
Visit Petit Platres, an amazing hiking destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Platres is a popular summer escape, because it’s much cooler up here. This is one of the villages in Cyprus that offers amazing hiking trails, including routes to the Caledonia Waterfall. Located in the Troodos mountains, near Mount Olympus, Platres also has some cute hotels and restaurants.
Kalopanayiotis
Hidden away in the mountains of Cyprus, this village is dreamy and worth the trip. What about thermal springs where this village in Cyprus is known for, or the scenic valley views. It’s also home to Byzantine heritage. St. John Lampadistis Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. All in all, enough reasons to visit Kalopanayiotis.
Koilani
This village itself might not be as picturesque as the others on this list, but there is another reason why you should visit Koilani. Situated in the district of Limassol, there are tons of wineries around here. You can visit the famous Vlassides Wines, or Zambartas for a tour and wines tasting.
Lania
Although there isn’t much to do in Lania, it’s worth walking around for a stopover. Lania has one restaurant which has great food and local dishes. Take a look at the church, and enjoy the pretty style. Tip: walk past the house of Dutch artist, where you can find traditional Dutch clogs on its doorstep, as well as other artifacts.
Omodos
Some say this is the prettiest village in Cyprus, and earns this title with the cobblestone streets, and the pretty village square. But its also famous for the Monastery of the Holy Cross, an important site. Next to that it’s a great place for local crafts like traditional lacework.
Vouni
Vouni is situated in one of Cyprus’ main wine-producing regions, making it an excellent place to explore Cypriot wines. The village itself is pretty, and is a well-preserved example of Cypriot architecture. We loved the many houses built from local stone and featuring red-tiled roofs. You can also find some original wine press machines at Vouni.
