07 Sep The Churchill Bar & Terrace, London
Whilst many of us wish we had been more productive over the period of lockdown, The Churchill Bar & Terrace in London has undergone an incredible makeover over the past months. The bar has reopened with a plusher and more luxurious bar which, by the way, has an incredibly stylish outdoor terrace.
Located right in the heart of Marylebone, The Churchill – Bar and Terrace overlooks Portman Square Garden. Located in the Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill, and neighbour to a few other hotels of its repute. Although no doubt superior in its décor, menu and its overall service.
Mr. Churchill is everywhere
Reopened on the 7th July, The Churchill has since been welcoming guests back to their newly renovated Bar and Terrace with incredible hospitality. The bar is a luxuriously designed without being flashy; the outdoor terrace incredibly elegant yet cozy. You will find portraits of the iconic Prime Minister all over the walls outside and a statue of the man himself with a glass in one hand, and a cigar in the other.
Less is more
Instead of an overwhelmingly extensive book of cocktails to choose from, The Churchill offers a concise selection of carefully crafted and appropriately named cocktails. From the classics to the more creative ones inspired by Sir Winston Churchill (of course). Not only are they delicious, each and every one of them are exquisitely presented. The names of the cocktails are thoughtfully chosen, all revealing a different aspect of the Prime Minister’s life.
While the menus are slightly condensed due to the pandemic, there is still a wonderful selection of food to choose from, including premium British burgers and bar snacks. Nibble on the charcuterie or indulge in the vanilla cheesecake, which was the perfect balance of freshness and creaminess.
You’re in safe hands
Post lockdown crowds can sometime make people uneasy, which is completely understandable and also why The Churchill takes steps to ensure that their visitors and staffs feel safe and comfortable. As you enter, a staff will ask you to sanitize your hands and take your temperature (which is more than what some airports do!) before seating you at a table that is safely distanced from your neighbours’. No more paper menus and mouth shields are compulsory for all staffs. The bar is never overcrowded, so that all tables are attended to thoroughly. If you want to check out the place, be sure to make an advance booking or get there early to avoid disappointments!
Overall, our experience at The Churchill was tremendously pleasant. The Bar and Terrace is a four-minute walk from Hyde Park and Oxford Street, a quick escape from the bustling and hustling of the main streets, and the perfect spot to wind down without compromising the need to stay socially distanced.
