One of the best ways to spend a relaxing day in Dutch countryside, is to enjoy it by boat. We want to share this tip with you as it’s the place to visit this summer: Theetuin Overleek!

You find this family-owned tea house in the middle of the Dutch country side, yet it’s so close to Amsterdam. With a tasteful menu, a nice small playground for kids and chickens running free, Theetuin Overleek is the perfect child friendly place for this summer.

A moment of silence away from the bustle of Amsterdam

Theetuin Overleek is located just 15 minutes away from Amsterdam in Monnickendam. It’s where you’ll find quiet surroundings and a relaxed atmosphere. As a matter of fact, this is one of our favourite spots and we love coming here in summer. If you’re up for it, come by (racing) bike, because it only takes 30-40 minutes. Once at Theetuin Overleek, you can enjoy a delicious lunch in the large garden or on the beautiful veranda by the canals with a view over the countryside. Enjoy a day out and eat healthy sandwiches, barista coffee or fresh juices. Mind you, don’t forget to try the apple pie here cuz it’s incredible! and enjoy the wonderful scenery!

You will enjoy the beauty of Broek in Waterland, Zuiderwoude and the historical city of Monnickendam. A wonderful experience which you won’t regret and forget. Tip! Order a picnic basket at the restaurant full with delicious sandwiches, scones, fresh ice teas and homemade cakes. You can eat them in the boat but on the way there are a few places where you can stop and eat.
