Soori Bali
Set on a black volcanic beach in a quiet area of Tabanan, Soori Spa is nestled within a high-end resort. The spa is dimly lit with gentle tones and the soft sound of running water echoes throughout the waiting area. I was received with warmth and asked to take a seat and enjoy a welcome beverage. Opting for a 90-minute four-hands massage (two massage therapists massaging you at the same time!), I waited in anticipation as I was led into my treatment room. The room itself was modern and chic with the piece de resistance being a beautiful bath filled with brightly coloured flower petals.
I lay down face-down on the massage table as the two highly skilled, soft-handed massage therapists commenced the treatment. It was my first four-hands massage experience and I wasn’t sure what to expect and honestly, I was blown away. Their massage strokes were in sync and my entire body felt pampered, it was divine. The pressure was perfect and they worked well together as a team. As I drifted off into a world of bliss, my body melted into the table and before I knew it, the treatment had come to an end. Soori Spa is the perfect place if you are looking to spoil yourself or a loved one as it is truly a decadent experience.
Experiencing a really good spa in Bali is quite literally food for your soul.
Maja Spa
Freshly opened in Bali’s vibrant town Canggu, is the Maja Spa. This serene, peaceful, tranquil all-white spa is an extension of the Maja boutique hotel. Owned by the couple Marie and Jake known as @mariefeandjakesnow: “Our story is about two souls coming together and creating magic in the world. We invite you to come and relax with us and dream with us about love, health and beautiful things.” In Maja Spa you can enjoy a few different signature treatments, such as a Thai Fusion, aromatherapy or Hot Stone massage, as well as Superfood Body Cocoons and hydrating facials. And they have a great yoga studio too: as well as the spa it is all white, with natural stones, and Greek style pillars. A true hidden gem in the buzz of Bali! majaspa.com
Goldust Spa
Having just moved to a fresh, new location in the heart of Canggu, Goldust Spa is a good time! Welcomed warmly, I was taken into a treatment room and given a gold muumuu to put on – very fitting! I was excited to experience their 90-minute Luxury 24K GOLD Facial and also had no idea what to expect. 24K gold is supposed to have anti-aging properties which I will never say no to!
As I relaxed on the table, the facial began with a deep cleanse and a sculpting lifting face massage. I had never had a face massage before but this was heaven! Not only did the therapist focus on my pressure points, but I could feel the blood circulating through my face and it felt good! Next, a hyaluronic mask was applied which hydrated and plumped my skin and finally, the pièce de résistance – the pure 24k gold mask. It took around 15 minutes to apply as they are small pieces of gold sheets. Once the mask had been applied, the therapist massaged the gold into my skin and then asked me to take a look in the mirror – which of course, I did. A gold-covered face!
After I had taken enough happy snaps, the therapist washed the gold off and cleansed my face once more before adding a sunscreen moisturiser. My skin felt smooth and supple and I genuinely had a glowing tint to my face. I’ve had a lot of facials in my life, but this was one of the best I have experienced. Goldust Spa is perfect for a girls pamper day as they cater for group bookings.
Ubud Traditional Spa
Nestled among the deep green hills of Ubud in a traditional little village called Payogan, is the unassuming Ubud Traditional Spa. Family-run, this spa is cosy and the staff are extremely friendly, ensuring you feel comfortable at all times. Offering a small menu, this spa is perfect for those who simply want a really good massage. Rooms are clean and traditionally Balinese and the therapists use local products and herb and flower-infused massage oils.
Taken into a massage room, I quickly undressed and laid face-down on the table, ready for my 90-minute Bali Traditional Massage. I had chosen firm to strong pressure and it was spot on. My therapist used a combination of long strokes and limb stretching and my whole body was soon in a complete state of bliss. She also understood the assignment and every single knot was massaged out – it felt amazing.
After my massage, I was treated to a pot of ginger and honey tea while I slowly came back to the world. It’s the little touches that can make an experience so wonderful. Ubud Traditional is fantastic value and they even offer complimentary transport within the Ubud area for 2 people or more. I will definitely be back!

Karsa Spa
Located in the village of Bangkiang Sidem – a beautiful 30-minute walk from the centre of Ubud – is Karsa Spa. This open-air spa encompasses pure tranquility. There are several treatments to choose from including full-body massages, facials, and even reiki healing. If you walk down a small path, surrounded by lush rice fields, it leads you to the reception area where you are met with a cold drink. The treatment room is idyllic. Made predominantly from stone, it is similar to a little shala with a covering, in case it rains. The tiles on the floor are a beautiful mosaic pattern and I spied a delicious looking bath calling my name.
