With so many things to do in Amsterdam during the Christmas period, we needed to make a handy list. Find your favourite things to do, from markets, to special dining experiences and more.
Het Amsterdamse Winterparadijs
Like last year, this massive winter wonderland will be open during December at the RAI in Amsterdam. This year it will be even bigger! There will be an ice-skating ring in and outside, music performances, food, tube sliding, kids activities and everything to get you into the Christmas spirit. On until the 30th of December! WONDR Experience – Christmas & Frozen special
Up until the 9th of January, you can come to the WONDR Experience with you kids. Don’t miss all the jolly new spaces we’ve got ready for you! Visit us with your loved ones and discover our new gingerbread houses, giant nutcrackers, Christmas teddy bears, a life-size snow globe, and much more! extra; they now have a special Frozen room too! Christmas Village at Museumplein
Stroll past the different chalets that sell local goods, snack and sweets. This year, the famous ice-skating ring in front of Rijksmuseum isn’t happening because of late permits. Entrance is free and you enjoy this Christmas village daily until the 26th of December.
Funky X-Mas Market (Sunday Market)
THE place for your funky Xmas presents on the 17th of December from noon till 6pm! For the 11th year running you will find lots of beautiful stands full of original creations. Of course there is great food & drink (mulled wine), live music at the Westergas area in Amsterdam West.
Sustainable Ceuvel Market
Another Christmas market that is happening during the weekend of 16-17 December from 1 till 8 pm, is this sustainable version at Café Ceuvel. Handmade goods such as soap and other materials that have less impact on the planet. Next to the twinkeling lights and hot choco, you can relax by the open fire pit.
Visit the Amsterdam Light Festival
Every year, the canals of Amsterdam light up, with beautiful displays across the city. The best way to see it is from the water, but you can also take a walk, and stop for drinks while you’re at it. Book a tour with free Gluhwein and drinks!
