04 Jun Top 5 » Lifestyle spots in Maastricht
Last weekend I had a wedding in Maastricht. A great excuse to stay a little longer to explore this city where I immediately fell in love with a few years ago.
Maastricht is a beautiful, pleasant, cozy town in the south of the Netherlands with impressive surroundings where food & culture meet. You will find many small shopping streets, hidden away from the tourists areas, and beautiful historic architecture.
I walked around for hours and found some very nice shops, which I would really like to share with you!
Hereby my TOP5:
1. Muchachas
This beautiful ladies designer boutique is a very special one. When you enter you feel immediately comfortable, not only because of the friendly people of this boutique, but due to the nice ambiance. Normally I don’t like it when they spray perfume throughout the stores and on clothing, but in this store I really enjoyed it.
Don’t enter this shop if you want to save money. This I-want-to-have-it-all boutique offers a selection of varied beautiful brands, with two of my favorites brands: Wouter & Hendrix and Commes des garcons, but they also sell Martin Margiela, Humanoid and A.P.C. YES please!
I couldn’t resist..

2. Festen
Do you want to explore something different?
In the city center you will find Festen where you can seriously wander for hours. They offer a wide selection of so many different cool things. Are you looking for a unique gift, industrial furniture, toys, clothes, accessories or if you just have to have a coffee with a homemade cake, then this is the right shop for you. This store has it all!

3. Traders Pop
In the same street as Muchasas you will find this trendy shop Traders Pop, which are both from the same owners.
Traders Pop is a concept store that already exists for a long time. My visit to this shop really inspired me, it offers great contemporary brands – Norse Projects, A.P.C. Paris, samsøe & samsøe, HUFF – as well as a selection of vintage clothes in the back of the shop > Shop-in-Shop Wild West. It’s not just the clothes that makes this store unique, they also sell accessories, books, post cards and magazines.

4. Boekhandel Dominicanen
“The fairest bookshop of the world, a bookshop made in heaven”- voted by British newspaper The Gardian in 2008.
A Dutch architecture transformed this 700-year-old church into a spectacular bookstore, situated in the center of Maastricht.
This beautiful church offers a wide assortment of books, music and literary activities such as interviews with writers, book signings and lectures.
I lost myself for a few hours; I wandered around, looked into so many great books, I went to the upper level where I’ve seen such an impressive view and I observed the historical murals from close-by! I bought myself a book, went to the back of the church, there’s enough place to read a book while drinking a delicious cappuccino – made my the baristas of Coffee Lovers coffee bar
A must visit when you are in Maastricht!

5. Le Marais Deux
Last time I visited this beautiful concept store, Le Marais Deux, which is the little brother of the beautiful clothing store Le Marais in the Morenstraat. You will find clothing – Nomansland & Levi’s – shoes – Tom’s – accessories, art, furniture & even bikes. In the store they also have a barista coffee bar, where you can get a very nice coffee!
