Updated: Vegan Fresco didn’t make it through and closed after just 1 year.
You probably would expect to find more than one vegan supermarket in Amsterdam by now, but the fact is, that there is none, until now.
Vegan Fresco is the first fully vegan & plant-based supermarket in the Netherlands. After a successful crowdfunding campaign, the vegan supermarket opened its doors on Friday the 29th of January.

Vegan & Plant Based Supermarket
Vegan Fresco sells vegan products from all over Europe to keep the variety. You can find vegan cheese, chocolate, frozen pizza’s and ice-cream. The supermarket, that is located across from an Albert Heijn in the Jan Evertsenstraat, opened its doors with a massive line on Friday evening, proving that vegan food is on high demand.
There are so many beautiful vegan and plant based products from home and abroad. I believe it is time for a specialised vegan and plant based supermarket in Amsterdam. – James Fresco
Vegan food is on demand
As we know, supermarkets are one of the only field of businesses thriving on the Corona crisis. So it couldn’t come at a better time. Besides that, vegan food is on high demand as people are more conscious about their food consumption. It’s better for the environment plus nowadays plant based products (like vegan cheese for example) have hugely developed.
Are you excited about Holland’s first vegan supermarket? We are!
