ZAPPAZ Amsterdam » Restaurant & Cocktail Bar

Zappaz Amsterdam is a brand new restaurant and cocktail bar with influences from Casablanca. It was time to try this new jewel on the IJdok.

Situated next to Central Station, Zappaz Amsterdam is not located in a busy area full of bars and clubs but located at a part of Amsterdam I rarely visit. On a Dock next to the water overlooking Het IJ. It’s a true hidden gem because you have a wonderful view of the Adam tower and see all the boats passing by.

When you enter Zappaz (named after the eccentric singer Frank Zappa) you will notice the Art Deco style that dates back to the twenties. With velvet chairs mixed with Moroccan flavors, this place reminds me of something you would find in London or New York and it was about time something like this came to Amsterdam. The owners picked up this style while making a trip through Casablanca where they got inspired.

The Menu
Their cocktail menu is filled with delicious drinks with our favorite being the cheesecake cocktail. (Must try!) I can see why you could sit here for hours, looking across the water while sipping on these cocktails. My tip is to start with some bites such as the fresh humus, artichoke caviar and eggplant dips with bread. Every dish served here is homemade without any conservatives. For starters we ordered the coquilles and the salad Casablanca. Very good. You can choose between 5 main courses with one of them being vegetarian and one fish. I hope for the veggies amongst us, that they will change their menu now and then so you can taste different dishes. Oh, and make sure you try the Moroccan pancake with ice-cream! (So delish) and while you’re at it, order some fresh mint tea because they serve it in a traditional way which I loved!

On Fridays there is a DJ and on Saturday you can enjoy live guitar music.

So get ready to dress up, drink cocktails and dine until the sun goes down.
